The campaign gives up to 10,000 supporters, champions, trailblazers and patrons the opportunity to be a part of our journey. Your support directly funds the E5 prototype program and funds verified reforestation through our tree-planting partnership.

We’re aiming for the first flight in 2028, and if you choose to become a Trailblazer or Patron, you will be invited to witness this historic moment.

After 3 years of engineering work, we're building (what the industry calls) a relevant prototype. From the outside it will resemble what the finished E5 aircraft will look like. It is full-size, allowing us to validate performance assumptions, and most likely to establish some new world records for electric flight.

We expect first flight in early 2028. This prototype is the technical proof point for the program, not yet a certified commercial aircraft. Being precise about this matters to us: we'd rather you back something real and in-progress than something overpromised.

Placement depends on your chosen package — Trailblazers and Patrons get the largest photo in the most prominent positions on the aircraft.

After purchase and closer to the first flight of our E5 prototype, we will share with you a secure link to upload your photo and an optional message. If you want, your face appears on the aircraft and in our digital supporter gallery; your message appears in the gallery only.

Your payment funds the E5 prototype programme — the critical milestone that proves the concept and unlocks the investment needed to certify the aircraft and bring it to market at scale. A small portion is used to plant trees in your name.

We use the services of TreebyTree.Earth to plant the trees in your name. You'll receive your own personal digital tree by email, which you can open, name, and explore. There you'll see its exact geolocation, learn its species, meet the farmer who cares for it, and read about the wider regeneration project it's part of. Every few months, you'll get an update from the field showing the project's progress.

Per Treebytree's own published methodology: every tree is different, and absorption depends on species, size, soil, and climate. To stay scientifically correct, Treebytree uses internationally recognised methods — IPCC guidelines, the Chave et al. (2014) allometric models, and the Global Wood Density Database — combined with data from their NGO partners.

For clarity and consistency, Treebytree applies one harmonised figure: 240 kg of CO2 absorbed over 20 years per tree, with an 80% survival rate already factored in and a linear growth assumption. We apply that same rate (~12 kg CO2/tree/year) to estimate the figure for packages with a shorter monitoring period. These are presented as “up to” figures because tree growth is not linear in reality — young trees typically absorb less than the 20-year average, so shorter-duration estimates are a conservative upper bound, not a guarantee.

For comparison, we benchmark against the European Commission's EU Tourism Dashboard figure for average CO2 emissions per air passenger on an EU-destination flight (103.2 kg CO2/passenger, EU-27 average, 2022 data). This figure is stated per passenger flight; consistent with standard industry convention (used by sources including DEFRA/DESNZ and ICAO), we treat this as a one-way figure. We double it (~206.4 kg CO2) to represent an average European return flight in economy, since that's the more realistic comparison for a trip most people actually take.

As Treebytree states directly: this number is illustrative and based on averages across large areas, not a guarantee for any individual tree. It is non-compensatory — we don't sell offsets, and this campaign shouldn't be read as one.

No. We don't sell or certify carbon offsets, and the tree-planting element of your package isn't designed to “cancel out” a specific flight or activity. It's a real, trackable contribution to reforestation — funded because many of our supporters told us they'd rather put money into something specific and verifiable than into an anonymous offset line-item. But keep I mind that the CO2 emission abatement is calculated over 20 years.
